-- QUICKSTART --
Once decompressed, you can copy all files to a floppy disk and then use
INSTALL to move things over to a hard drive. However, if you are reading
have probably already done that.
So -- just put all files into whatever sub-directory you prefer. You
can kill off INSTALL.EXE if you do not plan to give this to others in
a floppy disk format. (All INSTALL does is copy *.* to a user approved
sub-directory. It's faster to do it via COPY A:*.*)

The only program you need to remember is XDB. This is the database that
allows you to also send pages from a local modem. Once your settings have
been entered along with users and terminals, use PAGE.BAT to send pages.
XDB uses a pull-down menu that will look just like this one:
┌──────────────────────────── UTG Database ───────────────────────────┐
│ Users Terminals Groups Settings Other Misc Quit │
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
You need to set the COM port for you modem along with the dial prefix.
These are the first two items in the Settings option. You might also
change the Page server signature to include your name, telephone # or
whatever symbol you would like each page to end with. You can optionally
include the time by using the $Txx code. See the XDB.DOC for more info
on that.
The dial prefix is the number that you would normally press before
dialing an 800 number. For most home installations, this is a 1.
╒════════════════════════════ RAP Settings ═════════════════════════════╕
│COM 3 Dial prefix 1 Setup ATE0 S7=255 S11=55 S0=0 │
│Page server signature [yername] │
Everything else is set properly -- so after you have made the above
changes save them by pressing ESC.
Terminals, Then Users...
Make sure you have terminals set-up first, then users. Most disks have
some terminals included. Remember, if you add a new terminal, there must
also be an associated SCR file!
If you use AIRTOUCH or PAGENET, you're all set.
──────────────────┐
Misc Quit │ To send a page, use the Send Page option
───╔════════════╗─┘ found under Misc.
║ edit INI ║
║ edit LST ║
║ Send Page ║
╚════════════╝
If you want to set up a batch file to make sending local pages even faster,
load XDB this way:
XDB /ms23
This will autoselect menu item #23 which is Send Page.
There is a batch file (PAGE.BAT) which demonstrated how this is used to
expedite page transmissions.
NEW HOSTS
---------
If you are having any problems setting up a new paging host, call into
the DATALINKS BBS for help-- it's open to you regardless of your registration
status. Leave an email for KASE with the phone number of the host and
your pager number and a SCR file will be created for you. We'll page you
when the script file is ready for downloading.
See SUPPORT.DOC for more information on this.
